Let’s say you have a 1995 F-150 with 139,000 on the clock.
It’s run so well since you bought it that you never thought about a “tune up”.
Then it dawns on you. The bits that make the engine suck, squeeze squeeze, bang and blow are all original..
Do you mess with it?

Yup. Ford made some super durable trucks in the 90’s, I’d just give it a cheap tune up and see how that would work.

I would, but I like to live dangerously and have been known to fix things that weren’t broken.

Was really worried for a second I have a 95 with 136,000 on it. Mines an extended cab 2wd with the 5.8. What do you have?

That’s my problem too!
If it wasn’t broken, I need another crack at it.

Mine’s a 95 Extended 4x4 with the 5.0.
Sometimes I wish I had the 5.8.

Yes, give it a good service. You may not only find increased performance, but also better fuel economy. It’s not broken until it is, and that can be prevented. Coincidentally, I bought my ‘94 F150 at 139k, and did all the fluids and checked the air filter and ignition secondary shortly thereafter for that reason.

The 5.8L is nice - I had a ‘96 Bronco XLT with it. However, the thing topped out at 90mph.

Really? That seems low. Was it geared down?

Bone-stock. Some punks in a Tiburon were fuckin’ with me on the Interstate, so I tried to dust them (yes, I was young and immature). After 6 miles, the manifolds were glowing orange.
Years later, I came across the same Tiburon while driving my ‘76 Delta 88. They tried. I dropped it into 2nd and drowned their V6 fart-cannon in the howl of QuadraJet-fueled Rocket 350 (I was older but still immature).

Yeah, it’s in the cards. My experience with Ford EEC tells me tragedy may be ahead if I neglect it.

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, pcv valve, radi hoses, flush fluids.

This is only funny because it’s been known to happen to me a lot.

don’t fuck with it until it needs it.

So mine WERE original! Mine looked just like that. I’d replace it, it cost me around $60 to do. Its worth it
